Volkswagen

Volkswagen, which means “people’s car” in German, is a German auto manufacturer founded in 1937 by the German Labour Front. Headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany, it is the flagship brand of the Volkswagen Group, the largest auto manufacturer in the world. The Volkswagen Group owns and sells many car brands such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, Skoda, and Volkswagen. It also owns the motorcycle brand Ducati.

The most iconic Volkswagen is the VW Beetle. The first line of Beetles was sold in 1961 and sold from the sixties through the very early seventies. The Beetle had a second iconic version, the cabriolet, first introduce in 1953. The new Beetle which, introduced in 1997 will supposedly be discontinued after 2019. Another iconic Volkswagen was the Type 2, otherwise known as the VW Bus – the classic “hippie” mobile.

Today, popular Volkswagen models include the Passat and the Jetta. Both the Passat and Jetta offer standard and performance models. They also offer several mid-size SUV’s. Six of their models come in AWD and they offer two electric car models. Volkswagen’s goal is to launch at least 30 electric vehicles by 2025.

In the electric car category, the e-Golf is currently offered, and they have several concept vehicles. They are very futuristic looking, one of the concept cars, the I.D. Buzz, which looks strikingly like the classic VW Bus… a nod to the past with eyes to the future. The I.D. Buzz is being planned for production in 2022.

Most of the models in the Volkswagen line are smaller vehicles. For car shipping, this means the cost will be very reasonable.
