Jeep is arguably described as the most iconic American car brand. Jeep began its life as a World War 2 military vehicle. In 1940 the US Army asked automakers for ¼ ton “light reconnaissance vehicle” made to Army specifications. Willys-Overland produced the first prototype called the “Quad”. Willys-Overland was eventually awarded the Army contract for the revised version of the Quad called the MB. The MB revolutionized the use of motor craft in the military due to its small and incredible functionality.
After the war, Willys-Overland converted the MB into a universal farm and agriculture vehicle called the CJ. The MB and the CJ are the original models to what has evolved into the Jeep Wrangler.
Today, Jeep is owned by the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. Jeep only makes crossovers and SUV’s although they have added a truck to their lineup starting in the 2019 model year.
The Gladiator Rubicon is a 4x4 pickup truck with a Wrangler front end. It is the only open-air pickup truck on the market.
Another widely recognized Jeep is the Grand Cherokee. Currently, there are twelve models of the Grand Cherokee available with a base price starting in the $30,000's. The Grand Cherokee has received more awards since its start than any other SUV.
Jeep also offers smaller crossover models, the Cherokee, Compass and Renegade.
Jeeps are frequently shipped across the country in either an open or enclosed car transporter. Cost can vary depending on which shipping service is used as well as the size of the vehicle. Smaller cars, such as the Renegade are cost less to ship as it is easier to find a spot for them on a car transporter. The new Gladiator Truck will cost more to transport due to its larger size. Your car transporter company will be able to give you more detailed information and an estimated shipping price.
