The official founding date is 1947 when the racing logo as first adopted. Fiat purchased 50% of Ferrari in 1969 and increased their holding to 90% in 1988. In 2016, Ferrari officially broke away from Fiat Chrysler and it’s official corporate name is now Ferrari N.V..

Ferrari has an extensive history with racing, especially in Formula One. Ferrari is considered the oldest and most successful Formula One racing team.

Enzo Ferrari was a race car driver who drove for Alfa Romeo. He initially wasn’t interested in producing and selling road cars. When he founded his race team Scuderia Ferrari he began designing and building racecars. The first Ferrari won a Gand Prix in 1951

· The one and only Ferrari Factory is located in Maranello, Italy and produces only 10-12 cars per day. Every Ferrari is made custom to order.

· The Ferrari 308 GTS was famously driven by Thomas Magnum in the TV series Magnum, P.I. from 1980 to 1988. A 1986 Ferrari Testarossa was driven by Sonny Crocket in the original Miami Vice.

· The most expensive car ever sold is the 1963 250 GTO which went for the record-breaking price of $70 million.

Since Ferrari is a luxury sports car company, most of their sports coups are two seaters. The exception is the GTC4Lussa which can seat four but is still considered a supercar.
